The applications for 2026 REU Site are now open.
Eligibility Requirements
- Undergraduate students entering or returning to an undergraduate program in Fall 2026. Students who will graduate by June 2026 are not eligible to apply. High school graduates who have been accepted at an undergraduate institution but who have not yet started their undergraduate study are also eligible to participate.
- Students must be at least 18 years of age.
- Students must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
- Undergraduate students must be majoring in a science or engineering discipline.
- Students must be willing to work on-site at Florida International University Engineering Campus.
- Students must be commit full-time for the duration of the program.
- Students must be willing to work only on the program for its duration.
- Students must not be enrolled in courses or taking external work for the duration of the program.
- Students will be expected to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, in person in their assigned laboratory in person.
- Students must attend and participate in the weekly professional development workshops and literature review meetings.
- Students must fulfill program objectives completely, to receive the full stipend (awarded in three (3) installments: beginning, middle, end).
Program Details
Program Dates: 5/25/2026 – 7/31/2026
- Students will be enrolled for a 10-week summer research experience in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare.
- Students will earn a $7000 stipend for their work in this REU.
- Food allowance will be provided.
- Travel and housing (depending on relocation distance) accommodations will be provided for students in this REU.
- Industry, lab trips, workshops, social programs and more will be provided to students in this REU.

You will need the following documentation:
- Personal Statement explaining why you are interested in this REU program. Why you can be an exceptional candidate, career goals and research interests. Include 1 to 2 projects topics in which you would be interested in.
- Include 1 reference letter.
- Include contact Information for two additional references, in case we ask for further information.
Selections will be based on research interests, academic qualifications, and faculty recommendation(s).
